You can now enjoy the best of Mediterranean culture in Tavira

This year, the fair has more exhibitors

 

The stalls are set up, the producers and artisans have everything ready and you can already smell different delicacies, some typical, others more exotic. The VII edition of the Mediterranean Diet Fair kicked off yesterday in Tavira and will celebrate traditional gastronomy, cultural habits and endogenous products from Portugal and other countries in the Mediterranean basin.

The official launch of the event took place yesterday afternoon and was attended by Maria do Céu Albuquerque, Secretary of State for Administrative Modernization. The government official and representatives of the many entities present debuted the fair and there was no lack of snacks to taste and wine to toast.

In the end, the members of the delegation made their own dinner, in the sustainable gastronomic experience promoted within the scope of MedFest, a sustainable gastronomic tourism festival of which the association In Loco is one of the organizing entities, which ended yesterday in Tavira.

“I hope the fair has many visitors. As already revealed, this year we had more demand from producers and artisans and we have more exhibitors. The city is full of tourists. Our hotel units have an excellent occupancy, practically sold out. So I hope this is a very successful fair», he wished, in an interview with Sul Informação, Ana Paula Martins, acting president of the Chamber of Tavira.

The Mediterranean Diet Fair can be visited until Sunday and has an extensive programme, which can be downloaded here (PDF format), which include concerts by the Spanish Silvia Perez Cruz (today, the 6th) and the fado singer Katia Guerreiro (the 7th), and the show “Nação Valente”, which will bring together Sérgio Godinho, Camané and Manuela Azevedo (the 8th), all them taking place at 22:30 in Praça da República.
