The Chamber of Faro «does not change a millimeter» its decision to evict the users of the former Praia de Camping Park Faro and move forward with deep redevelopment work on the space, despite the attempt by current users to stop the process in court..

The Association of Users and Friends of the Praia de Camping Park Faro (AUAPPCF) announced yesterday that it has filed an injunction in the Loulé Administrative Court to try to avoid having to leave the space until the end of the month, following the complaint, by the Chamber of Faro, of a lending agreement in force since 2010, which allowed association members to use this space.

About a year ago, the Chamber of Faro decided to end the protocol and gave users of the space a year to leave - when the contract only required to give two months.

In practice, the contract ended on Sunday, the 15th, but the Chamber of Faro gave users 15 more days to vacate the space. From the 1st of October, the works will begin, whether the park is empty or not, he told the Sul Informação Rogério Bacalhau, last week.

However, the AUAPCPF went public to guarantee that it is not able to leave, alleging that there are social cases of people without the means to rent or acquire another unresolved house and that there are caravans that do not pass the bridge, due to its dimensions.

Contacted by Sul Informação, the municipal executive from Faro, through Henrique Gomes, chief of staff of President Rogério Bacalhau, reacted to the association's public position and says that the Chamber is «fully aware of the strength of its arguments, which are based on the law and on expectations that the vast majority of Farenses have what should be the public use of that space, for the benefit of the community and the tourist affirmation of this promising coastal area and the municipality of Faro».

Rogério Bacalhau's chief of staff points out that the protocol that was established between the municipality and the AUAPCPF "was expressly of a precarious nature and was based on the non-negotiable condition that this space and equipment had to be returned to the municipality, as soon as it so required, the notice of termination provided for in the clauses has been complied with (30 days in advance)».

"It should be noted that the communication of the termination of the protocol was carried out one year in advance, under the terms formally provided for in the protocol, which represented more than enough time for the association and its users to take precautions and promote disaffection and transfer physical of any and all equipment that does not belong to the municipality and, as well, for the resolution of any other obstacles to the vacancy of the free space of people and goods within the established period, so that it can, at once, be returned to usufruct public», added Henrique Gomes.

This will happen following a contract that has already been awarded and that already has the approval of the Court of Auditors, budgeted at 430 thousand euros.
