The Orquestra do Algarve will perform Beethoven's 9th Symphony (Hymn to Joy) in two concerts, on the 10th and 11th of May, at Teatro das Figuras (Faro) and Algarve Congress Palace (Albufeira).
This concert marks the 200th anniversary of the most important symphony in the history of music, which is rarely possible to hear live – and which is also the official anthem of the European Union.
This will be a project in which the Orquestra do Algarve is reinforced with 26 musicians from the Orquestra sem Fronteiras, winner of the European Charlemagne Prize for youth in 2022, in a long-desired collaboration.
This moment will be directed by maestro Martim Sousa Tavares and with the participation of Beatriz Maia (soprano), Carolina Figueiredo (mezzo-soprano), Frederico Projecto (tenor), Rui Baeta (baritone) and the Community Choir of Orquestra do Algarve.
Tickets for both concerts are now on sale here (Faro) to here (Albufeira).
