Silves: Odelouca already has piped water

Work cost 200 thousand euros

The site of Odelouca, in the parish of Silves, already has piped water. The works to extend the supply network to this location, which cost 200 thousand euros, have been completed.

The Chamber of Silves emphasizes that this was "an intervention of some complexity that forced the prior collection of numerous and demanding opinions from external entities and struggled with the problem and consequences of a conduct installed for more than a decade that remained inactive" .

The municipality explains that “the intervention began with the execution of eight road crossings (the passage of pipelines through the bridges), followed by other works such as the construction of nine connecting branches, the correction of anomalies, the execution of another crossing over the canal of irrigation, the installation of two fire marks, as well as the installation of seven suction cups and a pressure reducing valve (VRP) in order to control the air in the ducts and the pressure, stabilizing the operation of the system and preventing the emergence of ruptures'.

The final works consisted of loading the ducts, disinfection, collection of water analyzes and installation of meters.

According to the Municipality of Silves, the work, which was an «investment demanded just a long time ago by the population of Odelouca», allows «to take this precious liquid to numerous families» and fits «in the strategic guideline of the Municipality», aimed at for the “remodeling, extension, consolidation, modernization and defense of the public supply system”.

This strategic line also intends to «guarantee the efficient use of water and raise the levels of well-being and quality of life of the populations, in addition to revitalizing the interior».
