The 5th edition of Noites de Levante starts this Wednesday, 28th of August, and promises to bring entertainment to various parts of the municipality of Olhão, until the 31st, between 22:00 and 23:00. This year, the event was extended to Fuzeta and to various places in the Cubist city, and it will also have one more day compared to last year.
«It is said in Olhão that, on rising days, crazy people go out into the street» and, for four nights, the council «will be animated by the craziest figures in our imagination, in what is already one of the reference events of the Algarve summer , which is distinguished by the difference and surprise of what it presents to the public», highlights the Câmara de Olhão, which promotes the event.
On the 28th and 29th of August, more than two dozen circus-inspired characters take to the streets, in a parade of mummers, jugglers, clowns, beasts, tamers and fire-breathers, which ends with a spectacle of interaction with the audience.
The first day takes place in Fuzeta, with the parade starting to the west of the riverside area, walking along the artery next to the restaurants and bars and ending with a show next to the fishing facilities.
On Thursday, the 29th, the event starts at Escola João da Rosa, in the parish of Quelfes, continues towards Rotunda do Cubo and descends Avenida Bernardino da Silva towards Praceta de Agadir, where the final show will take place.
On the 30th of August, with the entrance of Lua Nova, the night is dressed in white and light «to receive the goddess of the sky and the sea», in a parade that starts in Jardim João Serra, next to the train station, goes down Avenida da República, runs along Rua do Comércio and the surroundings of the Markets, ending in Jardim Patrão Joaquim Lopes, in a show of skill and fire that the Chamber of Olhão promises to be "surprising".
On the 31st, Olhão «let yourself be carried away by the fantasy of fairy tales and stories of princesses and dragons. The beautiful and the terrible run along Avenida 5 de Outubro from the west sector and confront each other in an unprecedented spectacle, which takes place in Jardim Patrão Joaquim Lopes», reveals the municipality.
With the Levante Nights, the City Council of Olhão «intends to energize various parts of the city and county with recreational activities, without forgetting the cultural aspect, while at the same time inviting residents and tourists on holiday in the Cubist city to go out». .
