Castro Marim will provide an “Active Holiday” to children and young people in the municipality between 6 and 15 years old, between the 25th of June and the 6th of September.
Enrollment for the Castro Marim Chamber's free time occupation program is now open and can be made until the 19th, at the Social Action Office of the Municipality of Castro Marim. Places are limited.
Castro Marim City Council will maintain, in the summer, some novelties introduced in the Easter Active Holidays, but will have other new proposals, «focusing on the territory's natural resources and local culture, seeking to raise awareness and promote an entrepreneurial attitude rooted in the heritage of the county'.
«In this field, the carrying out of activities in the traditional salt pans stands out, namely the extraction of salt and salt flower, taking advantage of this period of the harvest. Dance will be another innovative activity, as this edition will be dedicated to traditional folklore, with the collaboration of Casa do Povo do Azinhal. Communication is another of the areas explored, with the holding of photography workshops with mobile phones and experiences related to journalism, with a focus on the territory's social media», according to the Chamber of Castro Marim.
The importance of a healthy and balanced diet will also be discussed in biological gardens and the Estação das Artes, in São Bartolomeu, will continue to be one of the stages of creativity, with activities in weaving and graphic arts.
Children and young people will also be able to enjoy science workshops, laser tag, archery and tree climbing, trips to the beach, recreational and cultural visits, laughter yoga, traditional games, golf and creative workshops, among others.
«The active summer vacations offer, every year, a series of sporting, sociocultural and recreational activities, promoting the interaction and rediscovery of different, useful and healthy youth practices, to be enjoyed free of charge for 13 weeks. They are essential support for parents and guardians, at a time of year when non-formal offers are scarce, entrusting their students' free time to a dynamic and suitable project», concluded the Chamber.
