This decision was taken by the City Council, this Monday, May 20th, and those interested now have a prior public participation period that runs until June 3rd.

During this period, individuals will be able to make suggestions or provide information on any issues that may be considered under the procedure.

For this purpose, the participation form, to be sent to the Chamber of Silves or by e-mail [email protected].

The expansion of Zoomarine will take place on land located at the back of the current theme park, which already belongs to the municipality of Silves and not Albufeira, in the União de Freguesias de Alcantarilha and Pêra.

The creation of a cable car that connects different parts of the park, a new wave pool, new parking lots and a park with photovoltaic panels are some of the novelties that Zoomarine will present with this expansion.

Rosa Palma, mayor of Silves, told the Sul Informação that the project «has already obtained positive approvals of the Algarve Regional Coordination and Development Commission, as well as of the National Ecological Reserve».

The mayor also revealed that the Silves PDM is being “revised” and should be closed “by the end of the year”.

But Zoomarine "would like to have this situation resolved even before and contacted the City Council accordingly", having obtained a positive response.
