Nuno Osório (CDU) wants to govern Castro Marim by listening to the population

Nuno Osório presents the ideas of the CDU's candidacy for the Chamber of Castro Marim

«Listen, listen, listen» to be able to define priorities for the municipality in harmony with the population and the living forces of Castro Marim. This is the key idea behind the CDU's candidacy for the Castro-Marinean Chamber in the Interim Elections to be held on Sunday.

The list presented by the communists is headed by Nuno Osório, who spoke with the Sul Informação and explained the strengths of the proposed program.

«Ours is an application to denounce, which Castro Marim lacks, with responsibility, honesty and competence. It is also a candidacy that is available to listen to the populations, workers, companies and for the defense of quality public services in the municipality, because without them, there is no development or fixation of populations and young people», said Nuno Osorio.

This is the great flag of the CDU, in the campaign that ends today, but it is not the only one. The communists also promise to make "small development proposals, instead of the large millions that sometimes there is to spend out of the blue, where no responsibility for spending public money is asked."

“We are talking about proposals such as cleaning up the municipality or creating structures for people with reduced mobility. It is also necessary to create connections, namely between the existing transports in Castro Marim and the trains, something so simple and that never worked», explained the CDU candidate.

The idea is not only to improve access to the county seat, but also to the beaches. «We have the case of the stop at São Bartolomeu. Anyone who wants to go from there to Praia de Altura either walks or waits for miracles (laughs). And this is a problem with many years», he exemplified.

There are also many years of «the old vices and connivances» that Nuno Osório says exist in the Chamber and with which «Castro Marim needs to break away».

“Because, if we look at it, there is a political force, the PSD, which has been in power for 22 years. However, with this new coalition cloaked with the name Mais Humano, but whose structure is PSD/CDS-PP, many of those elected continue from previous years. Hence we say that there is a continuity of vices and egos», defended the CDU candidate for the Castro-Marinean autarchy.

On the other hand, «the council needs new blood, new ideas and people who affirm and defend the council at national level, namely with regard to the right to mobility and the requalification of the EN125».

Dialogue and everyone's involvement are CDU's path to achieving this goal.

“The first thing to do is to make our proposals known to workers and populations, as many may not know them. The idea would be to listen to technicians, workers and populations, to involve them and understand what the council's first needs are,” said Nuno Osório.

And gives an example. “Here, right in front of the Town Hall, there is a fountain that for several months, maybe a year, has had running water without anyone calling it.

As for the physical work, the priority will be the completion of the construction works of the water and basic sanitation network, a measure that is “fundamental”.

“We also defend the restructuring of the Castro Marim market, but always listening to the Parish Council, the fairgrounds, the population and the companies that are closest to the area where the market is currently held”, he said.

The idea is “to transfer the market, without major expenses, to the surrounding street, at the back of Rua 26 de Janeiro and Rua Vaz Mouro”. This would bring, in the view of Nuno Osório, “a new dynamic for this trade, which has almost no life. There are cafes and a hardware store that are located on these streets».

This CDU project also includes the Casa da Música, which «could open to the public, with the development of workshops and shows on market mornings», and the spas, which could
'support the market itself', if they were subject to 'a small repair'.

“At the level of governance, we defend the total freedom of workers and populations in their opinions and in their manifesto of intentions. Then, it is to promote dynamics and joy at work and the involvement of workers, technicians, populations and companies so that this council can develop”, he added.

Nuno Osório also speaks of the need to "cut party ties" in the relationship between the Chamber and companies and defends that the decisions taken and all budgets be "made without cover-up and without personal interests, just for the benefit of the municipality".

“The vote in the CDU is a vote of confidence, of responsibility. People can ask us to account and the councilor who may be elected”, assures the communist candidate.

Nuno Osório took the opportunity to make “a great appeal to youth and the fight against abstention. Young people are often discouraged by politics and the way it is carried out. But they have dreams and ideas, which they want to transform, which are often blocked by obscurantism, by preconceived ideas. Voting at the CDU will give them the opportunity to present their ideas for this transformation and make their dreams come true».
