Célia Brito (PS) turns back with Novbaesuris close if she wins Castro Marim Chamber

Célia Brito exposes the ideas of the PS candidacy for the Chamber of Castro Marim

Reversing decisions of the outgoing executive, such as the creation of «floating pools» in Odeleite and the closure of the municipal company Novbaesuris, are two of the priorities of Célia Brito, PS candidate for the presidency of the Castro Marim Chamber, in the Interim Elections that take place on Sundayo.

The head of the list of the socialist candidacy spoke with the Sul Informação and made a point of not making promises. “We have to be aware that these are elections for two years and that the commitments are for this time period. Therefore, the PS will not promise what it will not be able to do», he said.

Even so, he realized what his priorities are: “business development, social support and developing new infrastructures”.

In this last field, the list is extensive and its head is an intervention in a monument in the municipality. «The requalification of the castle, mainly in access, will be my priority and my investment right after the 2nd of June. And then we will have to carry out works inside the castle, but small, because we know that this entails a lot of costs and requires a budget that we do not have, as well as opinions from other entities», said Célia Brito.

Another priority is the reversal of the decision to close the Novbaesuris municipal company. “That will be one of the first things to do. We are talking about a company that made a profit of 70 euros and is closing down because there was no desire to respond to the Court of Auditors. This body pointed to a series of illegalities and there was no desire on the part of the executive to respond».

“We presented several solutions and proposals, but there was no opening. One of the priorities will be to reverse the entire process, to boost the development of Castro Marim, which in the area of culture and education passes through Novbaesuris», assured the PS candidate for the Chamber of Castro Marim.

In addition to these major priorities, there are other ideas that are to advance in the short term, namely in the different parishes. “We are going to bet on the requalification of Altura, which has been forgotten for the last six years. There is no project for Rua da Alagoa, the main street. The center of Altura has been abandoned and the commercial part has no planning or planning. We have to requalify the streets and the sea front, encouraging the commercial part, the merchants, with correct planning», he defended.

«In Odeleite, we are against what is the great flag of the Castro Marim PSD, which are the floating pools inside the dam. Despite having been approved, we voted against and remain against this project», said Célia Brito.

The PS candidate rejects "totally" a work "which costs a million euros and will only work for three months a year."

Thus, this undertaking “will not go forward” if the PS wins the Chamber. "This million euros will be relocated to invest in the village of Odeleite, in the redevelopment of the space where the 1st of May festivities are held, with a floating platform along the river, to attract not only the residents – this was the place of excellence for go to baths and where they still travel - but also tourists».

The Socialists also propose to "renovate the entire pavement and surrounding area of Odeleite, to make it truly a flowery village."

In the social area, Célia Brito believes that people's lives will only be truly improved “if we bring jobs to Castro Marim. We have the potential for this, but entrepreneurs have been pushed aside. We have to reverse the situation and bring investment to Praia Verde, Retur and the entire sea front».

“It is also a priority to finish the cycle path to VRSA and start the cycle path to Praia Verde”, as well as improving “the access routes to both VRSA and São Bartolomeu and Praia Verde, with the construction of the roundabout [on the EN125] steps with Infraestruturas de Portugal».

“Continue to promote the resolution of the water and sanitation problem” is another objective.

Célia Brito does not forget the recent past and the “wars” she has had in the last year and a half with the minority executive PSD/CDS-PP, led by Francisco Amaral, and says that «the way of making politics in the municipality of Castro Marim will have to change'.

«I lived two realities. One in which the PSD executive had a majority for four years, and which did not report any matter to the two opposition councilors, from the PS, in which I was included. And nothing happened in those four years. In the last two years, when there was no majority, more work was done, because the executive was forced to work and to have to present proposals», believes the socialist candidate.

“It is said that there was ungovernability and that is why we are in elections. But that's why our slogan is Castro Marim for the Truth. I've been here for a long time, I had four fantastic years as president of the Parish Council, in which I felt fulfilled. The last two years have been the worst of my life in politics,” he confessed.

Accusing the outgoing executive of having governed on the basis "of I want, I can and I command, even though I don't have a majority", Célia Brito says that she is living the current campaign "for justice, for the restoration of the truth and of my good image and that of the PS".

“They accused us of not having approved anything and of blocking the entire administration, which is not true. The Activity Plan was approved, the Municipal Budget was approved, all structural works for the municipality were approved by us. It costs a lot that at the end of a year and a half and that the justification for the elections is that the PS joined forces with the CM1 and did not let it govern,” said the socialist candidate.

“I live Castro Marim and I am sure that Castro Marim will give the PS the confidence to govern in the next two years, try to develop this land and do more for it with work, commitment and dedication”, concluded Célia Brito.
