Faro debate 2013 Parish Reform from the perspective of elected officials and populations

The seminar aims to present the results of the surveys developed by the team

A seminar on the reform of the map of parishes carried out in 2013, which will take place at the Auditorium Commission for Coordination and Regional Development of the Algarve (CCDR Algarve), in Faro, will take place next Monday, February 4th, in an initiative Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Universidade de Lisboa and CCDRA.

The seminar aims to present the results of the surveys carried out by the project team, namely on the repercussions on the exercise of their competences by local elected representatives and on the daily lives of the population, with an underlying perspective of territorial cohesion.

The initiative has the presence of the Secretary of State for Local Authorities Carlos Miguel and the president of the CCDR Algarve Francisco Serra, among other personalities, at the opening session.

In the afternoon, there will be a round table with local elected representatives, on the benefits and constraints of proximity governance in the region's new parishes, moderated by Professor João Guerreiro, from the University of Algarve, which will be followed by a debate, under the terms of the attached program .

This project was developed by the Interdisciplinary Center of Social Sciences of the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences (CICS.NOVA) of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa and by the Research Center in Architecture, Urbanism and Design of the Faculty of Architecture (CIAUD) of the University of Lisbon, in close partnership with CCDR Algarve, with the participation of elected representatives and the populations of the parishes involved in the 2013 reorganization.
