Inatel Beach

Praia do Inatel, in Albufeira, has been banned from bathing since last Sunday due to the discharge of rain and residual water, which will have occurred following the rain that fell on Saturday. At Praia dos Alemãs and in the eastern part of Praia dos Pescadores it is also “not recommended” to go to the water.

This Tuesday morning, the results of the analyzes carried out by the Portuguese Environment Agency (APA) on water quality were known, but «microbiological contamination continues with values above those recommended. Despite being slightly better, it's still bad», he added, to the Sul Informação, Santos Arrabaça, captain of the Port of Portimão.

Therefore, «Inatel has a red flag and a yellow flag was hoisted in the area bordering Inatel beach. The yellow flag is hoisted both to the west, at Praia dos Alemãs, and to the east, at Praia dos Pescadores. This means that the waters are not recommended, but they are not really recommended, because there is pollution».

This Wednesday morning, admits Santos Arrabaça, «the beaches must be in the same conditions», that is, bathing prohibited. However, new analyzes will be carried out by the APA.

According to the Captain of the Port of Portimão, “the important thing is that the source that is polluting is identified and corrected, after which it will be a matter of a day or two. The maritime agitation itself ends up spreading pollution and bacteria end up dying», he concludes.

Due to this situation, the Blue Flags that were attributed to these beaches are not hoisted.
