The Fisherman's Day celebrations are taking place this Friday, June 16, in the village of Almograve, in Odemira, with a debate, music and gastronomy. 

This initiative «has the objective of reflecting on the challenges of the sector and, at the same time, promoting interaction between the municipality's fishing community», says the Chamber of Odemira.

The party will start at 12:30 pm and will bring together the fishing community of the four fishing ports of the municipality of Odemira: Azenha do Mar and Entrada da Barca (S. Teotónio Parish), Portinho do Canal (Vila Nova de Milfontes Parish) and Lapa de Doves (Parish of Longueira/Almograve).

The program includes a traditional lunch where seafood will be highlighted, musical entertainment with local artists and a moment for interventions and debate on the reality of fishing activity in the municipality.

The initiative is promoted by the Municipality of Odemira, Association of Shipowners of Artisanal Fishing and of the Siege of the Southwest Alentejo and Costa Vicentina, Parish Council of Longueira/Almograve and local fishermen, with the support of the Parish Council of S. Teotónio, Council of São Paulo. Parish of Vila Nova de Milfontes, APS – Administration of the Ports of Sines and Algarve, Docapesca and Captaincy of the Port of Sines.
