Nuno Amado, who is the current president of the Municipal Assembly of Vila do Bispo, elected in 2013 on the lists of the Socialist Party, of which he was a member, is now the candidate for that same body, but on the list «Together for Change», supported by PSD and CDS.

The name of the former president of the PS Council Political Commission, from which he resigned in January 2015, even handing over his militant card, in deep disagreement with the current mayor of Vila do Bispo, the socialist Adelino Soares, was made known last Saturday, July 1st, during the presentation of the candidates of the «Together for Change» movement, which brought together about 400 people in the Fire Department of Vila do Bispo.

Nuno Amado, candidate for the presidency of the Municipal Assembly, opened the speeches, presenting the movement as "a breath of fresh air for politics in the municipality", guaranteeing that "many independent citizens, never involved in politics", are part of it. The objective, he added, is "to change the focus to a policy of proximity and attention to the problems of the population."

Afonso Nascimento, with Celestina Costa and Mário Galhardo

Afonso Nascimento, head of the list for the Vila do Bispo Council, closed the candidacy presentation, defending that this is "a totally different project from the one seen so far in Vila do Bispo, integrating people of all political ideologies in the lists". In fact, the two candidates for the Chamber and the Municipal Assembly are former members of the PS, the party for which they had applied for and were elected, while the movement has the official support of the PSD and CDS, which thus dispensed with – not without opposition – to present their own candidacies in Vila do Bispo.

Regarding expectations for the next term, Afonso Nascimento said he wanted to give "primacy to structural works for the municipality, instead of promising large projects that never leave the electoral programs."

He also said that "a realistic, but ambitious electoral program is being prepared to encourage the municipality in various sectors, such as tourism, fishing, agriculture and social housing."

In the speech that marked the end of this presentation, the candidate stressed that this is a team that “is worth as a whole and not just for the heads of list, a team in which all Bispense villages can trust for the next few years to defend their interests. ».

The support of the PSD/Algarve for this candidacy presented as independent, but led by two prominent former members of the PS, is creating divisions between the social democrats of Vila do Bispo, with the launch of a candidacy of a group of citizens who voted for the Sagres Parish Council.
