Steps family mausoleumThe repair, maintenance and restoration works of the Passos family's mausoleum in São Brás de Alportel are already underway, under a tripartite protocol, signed between the members of this family "which has greatly contributed to the history of the municipality", São Paulo City Council and Parish Council.

The intervention is being carried out by a company from São Brás, in close collaboration with the Conservation and Restoration team of the Municipal Museum of Faro.

The maintenance work on this structure, built over seven decades ago, includes cleaning services, painting the walls, maintaining the waterproofing of the roof, preserving and restoring the door, relieved panels, openings and existing trim.

«This is an intervention that has never been carried out before and that will dignify one of the most emblematic buildings of funerary architecture in the São Brás de Alportel cemetery, highlighting all its value as a place of art/artistic object, and which leads us to a one of the most important and historic families in this centenary territory», revealed the City Council of São Brás de Alportel.

Bernardo de Passos, «one of the most emblematic poets from São Paulo», is one of the elements of this lineage. This Thursday, the 29th of October, we celebrate the 139 years of his birth, «in the heart of a family of artists, creators and revolutionaries whose memory deserves to be preserved for the future».
