PC_JORNADAS_PATRIMONIOIMATERIAL_v5Loulé and Alte will also receive activities under the 1st Conference to Safeguard the Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Algarve, taking place this Saturday in Tavira. In the municipality of Loulé, activities are scheduled for Sunday.

According to the Municipality of Loulé, “it will provide direct contact with some of the intangible cultural expressions of the Municipality of Loulé, especially those originating in the villages of Alte and Vale Judeu”.

The program starts with the departure of Tavira, at 9:00 am and, at 9:45 am, the participants ascend to Monte da Piedade, where a brief explanation will be given to the participants about the Feast of the Sovereign Mother, with the participation of the Men from Andor, and a visit to the Chapel of Nossa Senhora da Piedade (XNUMXth century) and Sanctuary.

At 11:00 am, the group will be in Alte to socialize with local people. This is followed by a session dedicated to the Esparto Cycle, with the intervention of master Spartans.

At 12:00, Idália Custódio, from the Ataíde de Oliveira Study Center, University of Algarve, will address the issue of Loulé's oral heritage. The Loulé autarchy added that «the oral tradition of Alte and Vale Judeu transmitted by some of its oldest guardians will be recovered here by Sofia Silva, Francisco Belchior, Salvina Baptista, Nédia Coelho and Olga Baptista, with singsong and traditional narrative songs of humor, request and mockery».

For 13:00, a traditional lunch is scheduled.
