PC_JORNADAS_PATRIMONIOIMATERIAL_v5The 1st Conference for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Algarve will take place on October 17, between 09:00 am and 18:30 pm, at the Álvaro de Campos Municipal Library, in Tavira.

This action aims to disseminate and enhance various intangible cultural expressions that individuals, groups and communities play and attribute identity and sense of belonging.

This is the case of the Mediterranean Diet – Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, oral literature, popular architecture, religiosities, fishing arts, salt production, agricultural work and water management, popular music, ethnoastronomy.

Other topics to be discussed will be the Algarve's museum network, popular architecture, know-how, and proverbialities. These are the main themes of these first days. Present will be researchers, teachers, students, municipal technicians, representatives of the associative movement, members of confraternities, personalities and artistic-cultural groups, among other specialists in this area, who intend to contribute to the safeguarding and perception of the richness and diversity of the cultural and intangible heritage of the Algarve.

The session, organized by the Portuguese Association for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage and with the support of the Municipality of Tavira, includes researchers, teachers, students, municipal technicians, representatives of the associative movement, members of brotherhoods, personalities and artistic-cultural groups , among other specialists in this area, who aim to contribute to the safeguarding and perception of the richness and diversity of the Algarve's cultural and intangible heritage.
