GNR_5A man who kidnapped a six-year-old boy, the son of his partner of four years ago, was arrested by the Albufeira GNR, a few hours after committing the crime. In addition to taking the child, however found and returned to the mother, the man assaulted the woman and the GNR military.

According to the Territorial Command of Faro of the GNR, a patrol was called to respond to a situation of domestic violence, around 4:45 am on Thursday, in a central area of ​​the city of Albufeira. When they arrived at the scene, the woman who had been assaulted said that the man grabbed her six-year-old son and left with him, despite her appeals.

Hours later, police located the 25-year-old man and the boy in a building in the Montechoro area. "The child, who appeared to be scared and in need of basic care, was sleeping with the individual, both lying in the building's hallway and with some blankets and foodstuffs nearby," described the GNR.

The GNR urged the kidnapper to hand over the child, but he refused, trying to resist arrest with aggression, insults and threats to the military, but ended up detained.

The child was returned to the mother, aged 34, after having been provided with "all necessary care". According to the GNR, the boy was taken against his and his mother's will, not knowing what the kidnapper's intention was.

The man, who is in an illegal situation in Portugal, is being present at the Department of Investigation and Criminal Action of the Public Ministry of Albufeira to find out what coercive measures will be applied to him.
