The City Council of São Brás de Alportel will maintain the same support that it already gave to associations in the municipality, «despite the reduction in transfers from the State Budget to the municipality» in 2014. The protocols between the municipality and the communities, of a global value of more than 270 thousand euros, were signed this Wednesday.

"This decision is supported by the strong intervention that local associations and entities have in the cultural, social, sporting and recreational dynamics of the São Brasense community, as structuring partners of the municipality in the promotion and dissemination of the local and cultural identity of the municipality", said the Câmara de São Brás, in a press release.

In all, 16 protocols were signed, with as many cultural, sporting and recreational associations, of which the municipality highlights “the Humanitarian Association of Voluntary Firefighters and, for the first time, a protective and animal-friendly association, Coração100Dono”.

«The support granted under the protocols signed will be of a financial, logistical or material nature, depending on the needs of each institution, and intend to provide an incentive for the continuation and promotion of initiatives that make the municipality more dynamic», revealed the São Brasense autarchy.

The Chamber of São Brás also stressed that the support is given “in the year that celebrates the 1st Centenary of the elevation of São Brás de Alportel to a municipality, whose program provides for an extended period of celebrations and in which local associations will have an active role'.
