"Terra Sã" organic farming fair comes to the Algarve for the first time

Portimão will host the national fair of Biological Agriculture «Terra Sã», an initiative of Agrobio – Portuguese Association of Biological Agriculture, which comes to the Algarve for the first time, on the 26th and 27th of July.

The first fair «Terra Sã Algarve», which will have the theme «Biological Agriculture in the Algarve», will be able to be visited in three different places in Portimão, the Jardim 1º de Dezembro, next to the old fish market and in the Casa Manuel Teixeira Gomes. Admission is free.

After the events held in Lisbon and Porto, the last of which had 15 thousand visitors and «more than 80 exhibitors, including producers, shops and service companies and production factors in the sector, associations for the protection of the environment, crafts and renewable energies », Agrobio bets on the Algarve to promote the organic production method in agriculture.

«Terra Sã Algarve 2013 is going to be different because it is included in a holiday and tourist environment. Therefore, in addition to having in our program the seminar, lectures, the market and the different usual workshops, we will also have the “Arraial Biológico”», a space with food and drinks and night entertainment, announced the association that organizes the event .

At the level of lectures and seminars, topics such as marketing, control and certification, research and production in organic mode will be discussed. It will also be possible to learn about different projects including the biological rice project and community gardens.

The day program will be aimed at consumers of organic products (according to statistics, they are mostly young people and individuals up to 49 years old) and specific audiences in the area. Between 9 am and 13 pm there will be a Biological Market and workshops on both days.

On Friday afternoon, the seminar «Biological Agriculture in the Algarve» will take place and on Saturday there will be lectures and awareness actions.
