The fire in Tavira was reduced at around 1:30 am to three fronts, although the situation continues to inspire great concern to firefighters.

Because, with the change of wind, the fire started to move south and is about 30 kilometers from the place where it started, threatening a more populated area, with scattered houses, already very close to the city of Tavira.

In order to try to control the intensity of the fire, and after night fell, it was no longer possible to use air means, the forces on the ground were reinforced with five groups of operatives coming from Aveiro, Leiria and Porto, totaling 737 men and 200 vehicles.

The Minister of Internal Administration Miguel Macedo should be arriving at this time in Cachopo, where the operational command is located.

However, this morning the Portuguese authorities will once again ask Spain for the support of the Canadair plane that intervened in the theater of operations in the Serra de Tavira yesterday. The transfer of this air means is obviously dependent on the assessment that the Spanish authorities make of their own risk.
