According to the municipality, with support from the Education and Youth Division, this year "new support policies" will be implemented, which will cover the area of school meals.

Thus, from the next 12th of September, «all students will have access to freshly prepared meals, by professional cooks, providing quality food, in line with the concerns for perfect health».

Daily, the meal will consist of soup (cream of vegetables/ carrots/ beans/ lettuce), dish (fish or meat) and dessert (seasonal fruit).

The meal for students in grade A is free, for those in grade B it costs €0,73 and, for other students, €1,46.

Another support has to do with the area of economic aid. With regard to the school kit, the Câmara de Tavira, stating that it is "sensitive to the difficulties that families are going through", will assume the cost of all school materials for pre-school and 1st cycle students. , offering each of them a kit with all the material requested by the respective teacher, thus avoiding more expenses for the parents or guardians.

This is a measure applicable to all students, regardless of the grade they hold. It will cover 250 pre-school students and around 700 from the 1st cycle of basic education.

As for school books, the municipality will offer students, in grades A and B, from the 1st cycle of basic education, all books and school cards from the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th year .

With regard to school transport, the City Council will provide free school transport to all students enrolled in compulsory education and residing more than three kilometers from the educational establishment.

For 10th, 11th and 12th grade students who use EVA and CP public transport, the City Council contributes with the payment of 50% of the school pass.

Nineteen Scholarships will also be awarded to university students residing in the municipality, during the month of September, in a public ceremony, to be announced in due course.

About sixty new computers will also be placed in pre-school and 1st cycle educational establishments, with a view to improving the learning and development conditions of our students.

As for the Psycho-educational Support Nucleus, this year it will be reinforced with one more psychologist, in order to respond to the needs felt, both by the students and by the families themselves.

These are the measures and support to be implemented in this school year, and through which the municipality "seeks the academic success of students, the good performance of teachers, and the satisfaction of families' needs", stresses the Town Council of Tavira in a press release .
