The Chamber of São Brás de Alportel delivered votes of praise to Renato Pires and Rui Caetano, both from São Paulo, for their performance in the 2022 National Cocktails Contest, which took place between the 1st and 3rd of April, in Albufeira.
Renato Pires won 1st place on the podium, in the Classic modality, and will represent Portugal again in the Cocktail World Championship, scheduled for November in Cuba. This will be the third time that the São-Brasense team disputes this trophy with the best in the world.
Rui Caetano was also featured in the same modality, receiving the “Best National Technique” award.
«Renato Pires and Rui Caetano are two people from São Paulo with a consolidated background in this area, creators of inspiring and original cocktails, with a history of participation in the most diverse national and international competitions and courses that elevate the name of the municipality and are a motivating example for many young people", according to the Municipality of São Brás de Alportel.
With professional training in the restaurant-bar area since 1997, Renato Pires has worked in the most diverse establishments linked to the hotel industry.
His professional career includes several victories in the Regional and National Cocktail Championships, as well as representations of Portugal in World Championships, in Slovenia, in the United States of America, among others.
Trainer, he has dedicated his last years to teaching, transmitting his knowledge and attitudes to the youngest.
«Young people from São Paulo have the privilege of meeting him as a teacher in courses in the professional bar and table area, where he is a reference for everyone», according to the municipality.
Rui Caetano is a trainer by profession and with immense dynamism and entrepreneurship that has put at the service of several projects in this area. Along with Renato Pires, he is also part of the cast of trainers in this area at the José Belchior Viegas School Group, among other educational establishments, often presenting the work of his students at the restaurant – school “Academia dos Sabores”.
«Recognizing the work, dedication and commitment of these professionals from São Brás who dignify and elevate the name of São Brás de Alportel and the Algarve with their performance in these competitions, the municipal executive of São Brás de Alportel unanimously approved the April 12th council meeting, the awarding of a vote of praise», concluded the Chamber.
