Court gives green light to works at Camping de Faro

Decision of the Administrative Court of Loulé is already known

The works at the Praia de Camping Park Faro they will even advance. The Loulé Administrative Court rejected the Provisional Providence presented by the Association of Users and Friends of the Praia de Camping Park Faro (AUAPCPF), announced today, November 11, the Chamber of Faro.

The works were supposed to have started on October 1st, but the injunction forced to delay its start. This afternoon, at a press conference, Rogério Bacalhau, president of the Chamber of Faro, announced that the municipality wants to take possession of the park «on the day November 25, in about two weeks».

"SToday we heard from our lawyer that the court decided and that the decision was entirely in our favor», revealed the mayor.

"We will notify users to leave by that date" of 25 November, said Rogério Bacalhau, who assured: "nothing moves us against users" of the campsite.

In the meantime, he added, "we've already talked to the contractor and we hope to consign the work right away." Afterwards, «it should be six months of work, we hope to have the park ready by the middle of next year».

As for the reasons given by users for not leaving the campsite, namely the fact that there are people who have nowhere to go and the impossibility of removing some of the campervans from the site.

With regard to social cases, “our social action services will monitor this. If there is any of these situations, it will be referenced and treated like all the others and, of course, we will take this into account», he said.

“But even if there is a case, it is certainly no reason for us not to continue the process. People will be treated well and we want to solve all problems. But we also want to return that space to the population and have a campsite with rules, like all the others», added the mayor of Faro.

As for the alleged difficulties in removing the motorhomes, the mayor from Farense says that the City Council is available to «help all and any of the users of Praia de Faro to resolve this situation. From the analysis of technical services and some situations that have already  occurred with the removal of  some roulottes from there, we don't see that there is any impediment, unless they have to ask us for permission to cross the bridge».

Rogério Bacalhau added that there is no referenced case, «but, if there are problems and if anyone needs company contacts and our technical support, we have already done it in the recent past and will continue to do so».

Rogério Bacalhau admitted, at the press conference, that the users' association could file an action in court, but "if they file an action afterwards, it is not suspensive". In other words, even in this case, the works may take place.

Contacted by Sul Informação, Luís Arsénio, president of AUAPCPF, said that the association will not yet comment on the court's decision. “First, we are going to meet with our lawyer and then we will take a stand”, he illustrated.
