Works at the Museum of Faro will force exhibition spaces to close for three months

All other regular activities of the Museum maintain their normal operation

Work has already begun to improve accessibility and working conditions in the restoration service of the Museum of Faro. The work will force the exhibition spaces to close for three months starting next Monday, February 5th.

All other regular activities of the Museum continue to operate normally.

The project in question, which will cost around 419 thousand euros, aims to improve working conditions and accessibility in this historic building located in Vila Adentro - the former Convent of Nossa Senhora da Assunção, whose construction dates back to the beginning of the XNUMXth century -, namely through the placement of an elevator to access the first floor, repaving, especially in the cloister area, and creating accessibility to all rooms, either through ramps or modeling of the floor.

In parallel, «new workshops will also be created for the restoration service, which will allow a considerable improvement in working conditions for professionals in this area», says the Chamber of Faro.

In addition to these, the contract includes a variety of works, including repair and replacement of skirting boards, painting, gutter cleaning
and drains, occasional repair of waterproofing, maintenance of carpentry, metalwork, maintenance and replacement of dishes, taps, and equipment, particularly communication, among others.

Furthermore, all other exhibition spaces under the authority of the City Council remain open to the public with a wide range of offers aimed at tourists, the school community and the population in general, with the respective teams remaining equally available to welcome all those who seek them out.
