Silves pays homage to Rocha de Sousa, professor and artist

Born in Silves, in August 1938, Rocha de Sousa was a professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts, an art critic and also a visual artist.

Silves will pay homage, on November 4th, to the artist Rocha de Sousa with the inauguration of the first part of an exhibition and the placement of a tribute plaque in the house where this illustrious Silves lived.

Documentary in nature, the first part of the exhibition presents the author and is divided into five sections — press texts, didactic texts, fiction texts, audiovisual teaching programs and fiction films,

The objective is to prepare the second part which, at the Igreja da Misericórdia in Silves between the end of January and March 2024, will focus on his plastic work.

The moment in which a tribute plaque is placed will also feature small musical notes by the Quarteto da Banda da Sociedade Filarmónica Silvense.
