Fire in São Marcos da Serra is under control

The fire that broke out on the afternoon of this Wednesday, July 12, near São Marcos da Serra, in the municipality of Silves, is under control.

Ao Sul Informação, the Regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command stated that the fire, which started at 15:43 pm, it was reported as being under control at 20:26 pm and that «there are no records of injuries» or of houses affected.

There are more than 200 operators on site.

National Road 267, which connects São Marcos da Serra to the municipality of Monchique, remains closed to traffic, but circulation on the railway line do Sul has already been restored.
