The PSD/Algarve accuses António Pina, president of AMAL – Algarve Intermunicipal Community, of having “a little April” for not having presented, before the vote, four points on the agenda at the last Intermunicipal Assembly, this Monday, 29 Of april. The mayor does not attach “great importance” to the accusations, saying that it is “a kind of joke”.
The situation happened towards the end of the Intermunicipal Assembly meeting, in Silves.
Points 2, 3, 4 and 5, which concern internal matters, such as changes to the budget, management balance and staff, did not have a prior explanation by António Pina, which is strongly contested by the PSD /Algarve.
The Social Democrats accuse the president of AMAL of having had a “reprehensible stance of total disrespect and arrogance towards the representatives of the people of the Algarve”.
Contacted by Sul Informação, António Pina did not attach “great importance” to the matter.
«At every point, I asked if there were any doubts and no one said anything», explained the mayor.
The moment nevertheless led to an exchange of words between António Pina and the president of the Algarve Intermunicipal Assembly.
«The president has every freedom not to present the proposal, but we also note that he did not present it», said also socialist José Águas da Cruz.
Águas da Cruz's stance was, moreover, praised by the PSD, which says that the president of the Intermunicipal Assembly “honored his role with impartiality and equidistance”.
«The PSD is in local power for the good and will continue to discuss the topics that interest the people of the Algarve, even though this is considered a nuisance for António Pina, who responds that it is not his competence, for example, when asked about the poor service provided by the intermunicipal company ALGAR, responsible for collecting recyclables, at the same time that the PS already seems to be interested in ALGAR as a golden shelf for its mayor of Alcoutim», concludes the statement from the Social Democrats.
