Teachers from the Pinheiro and Rosa group join the district strike

The strike will start at 12:00 pm, extending until the end of the day, which removes the possibility of requiring minimum services

Teachers from all the schools in the Pinheiro e Rosa Group, from Faro, will gather at the Secondary School, headquarters of the group, tomorrow, May 2nd, from 12h00, the day of the strike by districts in the Algarve.

The teachers will then join colleagues from across the district who will demonstrate at Jardim Manuel Bivar, in Faro, from 15:00 am.

The strike by districts was called by different union structures of teachers – ASPL, FENPROF, FNE, PRÓ-ORDEM, SEPLEU, SINAPE, SINDEP, SIPE and SPLIU.

The strike began on April 17th in the Porto district and will end on May 12th in Lisbon. In between, the strike will travel across the country in reverse alphabetical order, going from Viseu to Aveiro. In all districts, teachers will be asked to focus on one location, eventually moving to another.

«It will be a strike different from the previous one, as it is intended to prevent the Ministry of Education from being able, as it has been doing, to require minimum services and, in this way, hinder its implementation, create a climate of intimidation in schools, prevent teachers from going on strike and create confusion in schools», explains FENPROF.
Thus, instead of a strike notice for the 18 working days or 18 notices, one for each day, 162 strike notices will be given, one by each of the 9 organizations, for each of the days, presented on different days.

The strike will start at 12:00 pm, extending until the end of the day, which removes the possibility of requiring minimum services, under penalty of the strike being unfeasible.

In each district, at 12:00 noon, whether the teachers are developing any activity, it must be interrupted, the teachers will go on strike and the schools will stop developing any and all activities;

«Another objective is fulfilled, which is that, in such a hard and prolonged process of struggle, which has had significant financial costs for teachers, to alleviate this cost without, however, lowering the scale of protest and struggle» , stresses FENPROF.

After, this Tuesday, the strike took place in the district of Faro, will then head to Évora (3rd), Coimbra, Castelo Branco, Bragança, Braga, Beja (10th), Aveiro and Lisbon, where it ends on 12th May.
