Admission is free, with mandatory registration, due to space limitations, via e-mail: [email protected]

A conversation on the theme «The Collection» and the presentation of the project «Memory in action: my memories, our history» are the way in which the Museum of Lagos celebrates, on the 18th and 19th of May, the International Day of Museums . The activities are free and open to the public.

On the 18th, at 18 pm, the Lagos Museum invites the public to participate in a conversation between an artist, Jorge Pereira, a scientist, Rui Parreira, and a collector, António Castanheira, around the theme “The Collection”. Is collecting an art, a science or a curiosity? What is a collection for?

«Since the collection is the heart of the Museum, its reason for existing and the guarantor of its sustainability, we will start from it to stimulate knowledge from different perspectives and personal and professional experiences of the community, as well as to reflect on the affective, social importance , artistic, scientific and economic aspects of collections in a constantly changing world», explains the Lagos Museum.

On the 19th, also at 18 pm, the project “Memory in action: my memories, our history” will be presented to the public, which will take the Museum of Lagos out of its doors and will have as its main objective to enhance the experience, knowledge and the community's memories, so that, in the future, the recent history of the municipality can be built and told, based on the personal experience of those who have done it.

Admission is free, with mandatory registration, due to space limitations, via e-mail: [email protected]
