Suspect of stabbing 19-year-old girl in Albufeira is in custody

Suspects fled the scene after the attacks between a group of young people near Rua da Oura

The Court of Portimão today decreed the preventive detention of a woman suspected of having stabbed, on Sunday, a 19-year-old girl, who ended up dying, in Oura, Albufeira.

The woman had been detained by the police along with a man, on the morning of last Sunday, hours after the attack that took place next to a nightclub in the municipality of Albufeira.

After being heard in the first judicial interrogation at the Court of Portimão, the woman was held in custody, awaiting trial, the most serious coercive measure, while the man was subject to a Term of Identity and Residence (TIR), the least serious measure.

According to the authorities, the suspects fled the scene after the attacks on a group of young people near Rua da Oura, an area where there are several nightlife establishments.

The victim was still alive when firefighters arrived, but despite attempts to save her, emergency medical services declared her dead around 07:30 am.

In the aggression, a knife was used, which was eventually recovered, in what was, according to the authorities, a “disagreement between kids” in the context of nightlife.
