Passenger movement at airports rises 55,6% in February and exceeds pre-pandemic level

In February, an average daily disembarkation of 73,6 thousand passengers was registered at national airports

The movement of passengers at national airports reached four million in February, 55,6% more than in the same month of 2022 and 8% more than in February 2020, when there were still no effects of the pandemic, announced today the National Statistics Institute ( INE).

In a statement released today, INE adds that in February, at national airports, 16.900 tonnes of cargo and mail were also handled, 2,2% less than in the same month of 2022 and 3,5% less than in the second month of 2020, when there were still no effects of the pandemic.

In February 2023, there was an average daily disembarkation of 73,6 thousand passengers at national airports, a significantly higher figure, 54,1% more, than that registered in February 2022, when it reached 47,8 thousand, and 13,1 % above that seen in February 2020 (65,1 thousand), INE needs.

France was the main country of origin and destination of the flights, with Spain and the United Kingdom alternating between the second and third positions depending on the country of origin or destination of the flights.
