The refurbishment of the Moncarapacho sports center, in the municipality of Olhão, will be «completed by September», in time for the future sporting season.
The guarantee is left by the Câmara de Olhão.
«The intervention, a municipal investment of around 200 thousand euros, results from a response by the municipality to the need to provide Moncarapacho with equipment of this nature with decent conditions, for the use of clubs and the community», says the municipality.
In a first stage, the works included the complete demolition of the existing space, which was obsolete, both in terms of the construction materials used.
Subsequently, the space was recovered, which includes the construction of new walls, application of new panels, access gates and ball guard nets, execution of the rainwater drainage network, application of new sports flooring in reinforced concrete, sports painting suitable for football and basketball and lighting suitable for sports.
With regard to sports equipment, new football and handball goals and basketball hoops are planned.
The area surrounding the sports area was not left out, and will also be fully refurbished, with plans for paving, application of street furniture and areas for resting and shading.
