The second round of the 15th Edition of the Football Championship – Dolphins, a competition that brings together footballers between the ages of 5 and 8, will take place tomorrow, Sunday, March 26, at 14 pm, at Estádio da Nora, in Ferreiras.
In competition are the teams Padernense Clube, FC Ferreiras, Imortal DC, Guia FC and Núcleo do Sporting de Albufeira from the Golfinhos A categories (players aged 8 years old); B (7 years old) and C (between 5 and 6 years old).
The Dolphin Championship was born in 2007 and year after year it provides young athletes from the municipality «the opportunity to participate in a healthy competition, where the main objective is to encourage conviviality and fun», illustrates José Carlos Rolo, mayor of Albufeira .
«The council's conviction is to promote sport in the municipality and ensure the conviviality and integration of young people who compete», adds the mayor, who emphasizes «the importance of sportsmanship and associativism in the Municipality».
Cristiano Cabrita, responsible for Sports and Youth, states that «the Dolphins championship is always a high moment of satisfaction, not only for the little ones, but also for the parents themselves who live intensely the dream of their children».
«Albufeira is a city that does not live only on tourism and that these sporting events, with a social and cultural character, highlight the dimensions that mark the municipality and that reinforce the Municipality's candidacy for European City of Sport in 2026», he reinforces.
On the 23rd of April, the small footballers from Albufeira will play the 3rd round of the championship at Estádio Municipal de Albufeira. The 4th matchday follows, on the 30th of April, at Estádio Arsénio Catuna, in Guia, the same field that will host the last round of the event, on the 14th of May.
«The grand finale is scheduled for the 4th of June, at Estádio Municipal de Albufeira, where everyone is recognized as a big winner», concludes the Albufeira Council.
