Common Front predicts "massive adherence" to Friday's civil service strike

It is expected that “central public administration services, local authorities, health services, among others, will be affected, because the claims are very fair”

The leader of the Common Front of Public Administration unions, Sebastião Santana, said today that he expects a “massive adhesion” to the national civil service strike, on Friday, foreseeing disturbances in health, education, central and local services.

«We are waiting for a massive adherence to the public administration strike», said the coordinator of the Common Front, at a press conference in Lisbon, adding that «central public administration services, local authorities, health services, among others, will be affected others, because the demands are very just».

Sebastião Santana also predicts a "strong adherence" in the education sector, which could lead to the closure of schools.

«Public administration workers have been losing purchasing power for decades, the Government remains unresponsive, we have a picture of general impoverishment of workers in the country», said the union leader.

On February 23, the Common Front of Public Administration Unions announced a national strike for March 17 to demand immediate increases in wages and the enhancement of careers and public services, given the "impoverishment" of workers.

The Common Front strike takes place on the eve of the national demonstration called by the CGTP, in Lisbon, for the 18th, for wage increases and against the increase in the cost of living, with Sebastião Santana predicting a strong participation of public administration workers.
