Formula 1 returns to the Autodromo do Algarve… for two laps of Schumacher

For 14 years, this F1 BMW Williams FW 25 was the fastest F1 in history

Formula 1 will return to the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve, but only for two laps around the track of Ralf Schumacher, the younger brother of seven times F1 world champion Michael Schumacher, also a former driver of the sport.

945 horsepower at 19.300 revolutions per minute… are figures that, in and of themselves, will capture the attention of any motorsport follower. They are part of the official certificate for the F1 BMW Williams FW25, which will be driven by Ralf Schumacher, on the weekend of Tissot Portugal Grand Prix in MotoGP.

Twenty years after having won two GPs in the Formula 1 world championship – this chassis won the European GP at the Nurburgring and the French GP at Magny-Cours in 2003 – the powerful V10 makes its voice heard again in front of thousands of spectators who will surrender to his “voice” in two moments, before the MotoGP races, on Saturday, March 25th, and on Sunday, the 26th.

With six wins and 27 podiums throughout his career in Formula 1, Ralf Schumacher will thus also return to the track – which he definitively abandoned at the end of 2012 – in a very special and unique moment in the world. start of the 2023 MotoGP world championship.

For 14 years, this F1 BMW Williams FW 25 was also the fastest F1 in history, after being masterfully guided around the Italian circuit of Monza by Juan Pablo Montoya in 2004, at an average speed of over 262km/h (as you can see in this video), a record that was beaten only in 2018 by Kimi Raikonen.
