Ferragudo joins the “Junta na Freguesia” project to collect out-of-use electrical equipment

Waste batteries and accumulators are also collected.

Since 1 March, the Ferragudo Parish Council has made containers for batteries, light bulbs and accumulators available at its headquarters, and can also receive unused electronic and electrical equipment at its facilities next to the Ferragudo cemetery, as well as carry out scheduled collection with the customers of these equipment.

This new service is part of the “Junta na Freguesia” program, which Ferragudo joined, in partnership with ERP Portugal.

The project aims to "contribute to increasing the comfort of citizens, through a movement of participatory sustainability and facilitating the life of the community, which aims to increase the collection and recycling of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE), as well as waste batteries and accumulators (RP&A)», explains that municipality.

The initiative is based "on the framework of policies to encourage the circular economy and efficient use of resources, with a focus on the management of specific flows of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) and waste batteries and accumulators (RP&A)".

Along with other initiatives, such as the installation of urban equipment made of recycled plastic, the promotion of good disposal practices, the collection of stoppers and lids, «this is yet another small contribution by the Parish Council of the Parish of Ferragudo in defending of the planet “earth”», concludes the autarchy.
