A 20-year-old young man, who is suspected, along with two other young people, of robbing and stealing from elderly people during the afternoon of the 7th of March, in the municipalities of Olhão, Tavira and São Brás de Alportel, was arrested by the GNR on Wednesday, the 15th, in Olhão.

The detainee was indicted "for the co-authorship of four crimes of theft and four theft" and will be in custody.

This week, soldiers from this security force complied with an arrest warrant targeting a third suspect involved in crimes committed a few days earlier, who "had managed to escape the police action that resulted in the initial arrest of two suspects, a man and a woman. 20 and 22 years old who are in custody [the man] and daily presentations at the police station in her area of ​​residence [the woman]».

"The suspects' modus operandi was to act violently towards the elderly, especially vulnerable people, residents of isolated areas, and in one of the robberies, one of the victims suffered serious injuries and is still receiving hospital treatment", concluded the GNR.
