PAN Algarve creates collection point for material goods for Turkey

PAN Algarve headquarters in Faro will be available for collection of goods until the 15th of February

PAN Algarve offers its headquarters in Faro as a collection point for material and food goods for the Turkish embassy, in order to help the victims of the recent double earthquake suffered in Turkey and Syria, which accounts for more than 20.000 dead, 70 injured and 300 people homeless.

The PAN Algarve headquarters will be available for the collection of goods until the 15th of February, the deadline announced by the Turkish embassy for this collection.

The party informs that whoever intends to go to the PAN space Faro to deliver some material, you can contact through the district [email protected] or the telephone number 213 426 226, in order to schedule deliveries to the space, located at Estrada de S. Luís, 7 B.

“We were in contact with the embassy, through its emergency telephone, and we were given instructions on how to carry out this collection. We found that there are collection points in Lisbon and Porto, but not in the Algarve”, said Saúl Rosa, district political commissioner of PAN Algarve.

The PAN requests that “the material to be delivered be within the scope of what was requested by the embassy, such as winter clothing for adults and children, diapers, animal feed, hygiene products, canned or non-perishable food, tents, blankets, bags bed, thermoses and flashlights”.

“After the collection is complete, we will deliver the purchased goods to the Turkish embassy in Lisbon. We understand it to be a race against time and mainly against the cold, as the low temperatures that have been felt in the places of greatest destruction, make it difficult for people and animals to survive, so
all types of help are urgently needed”, added Saúl Rosa.

“We appeal to the people of the Algarve to mobilize for this fundraiser, as we will never know when something similar could happen in the Algarve, and
at that time international aid could also be crucial”, he said.

This is, for Saúl Rosa, “the best way to demonstrate our solidarity with the Turkish and Syrian people. It is important to collect a relevant amount of goods, because the greater the success of the collection, the more people and animals we can help”.
