New Secretary of State for Tourism announces 100 million to support companies

Nuno Fazenda also announced «a strong priority» dedicated to people, namely in the construction of an agenda for the attraction and qualification of talent

Nuno Fazenda, who has been the Secretary of State for Tourism, Commerce and Services since last week, announced, this Thursday, December 8, two new measures, with an endowment of 100 million euros, to support companies in the sector.

Participating in the National Congress of APAVT – Portuguese Association of Travel and Tourism Agents, which takes place in Ponta Delgada, in the Azores, the official spoke of the availability of 70 million euros, as a non-repayable fund, until the end of 2022 under the of the Apoitar Program and a new line.

With the name “Linha Consolidar + Turismo” and an allocation of 30 million euros, this is a measure «aimed at micro and small companies in the sector, which have difficulties in managing debt contracted, namely during the pandemic, to be presented in the first days of January", according to the Government.

For the Secretary of State, «both measures – with a global allocation of 100 million euros – are very important and respond to the demands of the sector».

Nuno Fazenda also announced «a strong priority» dedicated to people, namely in building an agenda for attracting and qualifying talent.

The importance of this measure is justified, in the words of the Secretary of State, by the fact that «one of the main difficulties that companies face is the lack of people and qualified labor».

The Secretary of State also left the general lines that will guide his action: people, companies, territory and territorial cohesion, twin transition – green and digital – and the reinforcement of Portugal's affirmation in the world.
