Car dragged by the water on the river beach of Alcoutim ended up in the Guadiana

As it was not possible to withdraw directly to land, the help of the team of divers from the Fire Department of Vila Real de Santo António was necessary.

A vehicle, which was, last Monday, December 7th, dragged by the current on the river beach of Alcoutim, it was only removed yesterday, the 7th, from the Guadiana river.

According to the National Maritime Authority (AMN), the vehicle «was in a place that constituted a danger to navigation».

As it was not possible to withdraw directly to land, the help of the team of divers from the Vila Real de Santo António Firefighters was necessary.

As the vehicle was on a steep slope, «it was necessary to use a backhoe machine from the Civil Protection and Alcoutim City Council to remove the vehicle from the water and put it on land».

The owner of the vehicle was notified to present a plan to remove the vehicle from the site.

The operation was coordinated by the Port Captain and Local Commander of the Maritime Police of Vila Real de Santo António.
