Baixo Alentejo is one of the 60 entities to join the CrAFt Cities of Horizonte Europa

Through CIMBAL, the Intermunicipal Community

The Baixo Alentejo Region is one of the sixty entities to join the CRAFt Cities, a Horizon Europe project to jointly shape the transition to climate neutrality and inclusive cities by 2030.

During the European Research and Innovation Days, on 29 September, in the session “New European Bauhaus: collaboration, community and culture for innovation”, the results of the initiative were released. CRAFt Cities, with the Baixo Alentejo Region, through CIMBAL, being one of the selected entities.

The European project CrAFt will provide support in the implementation of urban transformation models that support the transition to climate neutrality, turning cities into reference models for other cities in Europe.

Cities and regions join a growing European urban movement that brings together citizens, policy makers, the arts, and academia to co-structure the transition to climate neutrality.

These selected cities and regions join the first three participating cities (sandbox cities), Amsterdam, Bologna and Prague, to co-create and test models of collaborative governance of urban transformation.

Cities will commit to testing best practices in collaborative local governance models inspired by the New European Bauhaus; exchange experiences and knowledge among peers through online forums, physical meetings, visits, access to information and training materials and participate in a next generation reflection/documentation group with students and youth communities.

They will also receive personalized support at the local level to enable organizational development, access the vast amount of material already developed by existing platforms, including masterclasses and matchmaking sessions, and participate in reporting campaigns across Europe on CrAFt trajectories.
