The mayor of Aljezur City Council and the presidents of the Parish Councils of Aljezur, Bordeira, Odeceixe and Rogil signed documents for the transfer of powers and resources that materialize the negotiation process and the favorable deliberations of the deliberative bodies of the Municipality and the Parishes regarding the transfer of powers for the parish bodies.
“This is a historic and extremely important moment where more responsibilities are assumed between the parties, thus providing parishes with more financial resources”, says the municipality in a note.
The process of redistribution of responsibilities between the municipal administration results from Decree-Law no. August.
The initiative, approved by the Municipal Assembly and the Parish Assemblies, and agreed between the Parish Councils and the City Council, “in areas associated with the management and maintenance of green spaces, cleaning of roads and public spaces, maintenance and repair of urban furniture , support to educational establishments with minor repairs and maintenance of the surrounding spaces, come to “reinforce the
competences of the parishes, contributing to the efficiency of resources, to the greater involvement of the population and citizen access to information and decisions”, the Municipality also refers.
After the signature, the municipal executive congratulates himself on the agreements reached and expresses his confidence that, with the experience and capacity acquired in the execution of these tasks, the Parishes can, in the future, assume other competences.
