European Court acquits Portuguese justice in Maddie McCann's parents' complaint

The European Court of Human Rights rejected an appeal filed by the McCanns against Portugal following a complaint filed for defamation against former PJ inspector Gonçalo Amaral.

At issue in the court based in Strasbourg, France, was a complaint against the Portuguese justice for having acquitted Gonçalo Amaral of compensating the parents of the British girl - who disappeared in Lagos, in May 2007 - following allegations made by the former police inspector. Judiciary in a book and a television program.
