Portimão hosts the 18th Grand Chapter of the Confraria dos Gastronomos do Algarve

The Confraria dos Gastronomos do Algarve (CGA) organizes its 18th Grand Chapter in Portimão, scheduled for this Saturday, October 1st.

The event will bring together dozens of Portuguese and Spanish confreres, with the aim of praising gastronomy and rewarding the best products, with the participation of chefs and restaurants from the Algarve region.

The program includes a welcome dinner, scheduled for the 30th of September, while on the 1st of October the highlights are the parade of confraternities through some of the city's streets, from 11:10 am, to the sound of Sociedade Filarmónica Portimonense, preceded at 10:00 am by the reception at TEMPO – Teatro Municipal de Portimão of all participants, in charge of Isilda Gomes, and José Manuel Alves, grand master of CGA-

At 11:45 am, the ceremony for the enthronement of new members and blessing of the insignia by the parish priest Mário Sousa, a confrere of honor of the CGA, begins at the Colégio Church, with the performance of the fado singer and confrere Raquel Peters.

CGA is an entity whose objective is to «promote, defend and value the region's gastronomy as a collective cultural heritage», says the Portimão municipality in a note.

This Saturday, the Grand Chapter will be attended by CEUCO - European Council of Confraternities, FECOES - Federación de Cofradías Vínicas y Gastronómicas (Spain), Portuguese Federation of Gastronomic Confraternities, Order of Santa Maria de Ossónoba, Cofradía de los Vinos y Viandas de Castilla y León (Spain), Cofradia de Los Amigos del Olivo de Baena (Spain), Cofradia Gastronomica Los Esteros (Spain); Confraria do Arinto de Bucelas, Confraria Gastronómica dos Pinhal do Rei-Leiria, and Confraria Gastronómica dos Sabores e Tradições de Vieira.
