A user of the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Boliqueime was filmed, lying on a bed, covered in ants and with an open wound. The elderly woman has died, but the case of negligence has now been made public in a video posted on social media. Misericórdia guarantees that it is investigating the situation.
After the Jornal de Notícias have advanced with the news, Santa Casa reacted, in a statement, adding that it will launch “an inquiry of a disciplinary nature into who is (are) responsible for this unacceptable situation”.
Mercy guarantees that it will be “relentless in its punishment”.
Regarding who released the video, Santa Casa has also filed a criminal complaint.
The case will have happened in July. According to the Morning Post, Florinda Queiroz died shortly afterwards.
In statements to the same newspaper, the son João Queiroz explained that, when he went to visit his mother, he already found her “covered with ants”.
“I alerted the home, but they did nothing”, he adds.
