Fire in apartment at dawn scares residents in Monte Gordo

A fire this morning, August 28, on the 1st floor of a building in the Monte Fino area (Monte Gordo, municipality of Vila Real de Santo António) scared the residents, but caused no injuries. 

The alert was given at 1:38 am.

Ao Sul Informação, a source from the Algarve Regional Command for Civil Protection said that the fire started «in the kitchen area».

Despite the damage, the inhabitants of the apartment, which is located in Praceta do Pato-Branco, were not displaced, and there was a need to assist a person on the spot due to smoke inhalation.

Residents on the second floor were also evacuated, including a pregnant woman, you know. Sul Informação. 

There were 11 operatives on site, from the Vila Real de Santo António Fire Brigade, INEM and GNR, supported by five vehicles.

The causes of the fire are not yet known.
