The University of Algarve will offer, in the next academic year, 45 degree courses and an integrated master's degree, reinforcing its training offer with a new degree in Systems Engineering and Computer Technologies (LESTI).

The main novelty for 2022/23 is the awarding of 105 incentive grants, spread over 27 degrees, for new students who enter through the National Competition for Access to Higher Education.

These incentive grants, awarded within the scope of the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), translate into an annual financial support in the amount of the tuition fee, and are automatically renewed over the three years, as long as the student succeeds.

In the next academic year, UAlg offers 1535 places for the National Competition for Access to Higher Education.

The new degree in Systems Engineering and Computer Technologies aims to «train professionals with a solid basic technical training in the areas of intelligent systems, information technologies, information systems, information and communication technologies, development of computer applications, databases , algorithms and data structures, operating systems, computer systems and their operation, integration and selection of equipment to support technologies and information systems and intelligent systems», explains the UAlg.

One of the focuses of this course is «to integrate students into a business environment since their second semester, following the most recent national and international trends».

It was also designed to receive students from professional technical courses, and there are equivalence plans for holders of a CTeSP training.

LESTI aims to prepare engineers to develop their activity in multiple economic sectors. "As information technology is the essential support for modern society, the skills of the computer engineer are essential in all companies and organizations involved in the development of services, systems and products, in particular those operating in the area of ​​information technologies", stresses the UAlg.

Some of these examples involve developing and designing software; programming computer applications; manage computer systems; install, configure and maintain computer networks; provide consulting and auditing services for computer systems.

These engineers will also be able to develop their activity in the area of ​​services and products in intelligent systems, business management, energy, telecommunications, content, entertainment, engineering in general, etc.

LESTI has important external partnerships, such as Deloitte, through the BrightStart program, ATOS, Algarve Evolution and UALG Tec Campus – Business Accelerator of the University of Algarve.

 

 

Excellence Scholarship for the Best Students

All students who enter the University of Algarve (UAlg) in the first option, with an application grade equal to or greater than 17 values, will receive a scholarship of excellence.

Awarded to the best students of each undergraduate and integrated master's course, who enroll in the 1st year, for the first time, the scholarships pay the full amount of the tuition fee in the academic year 2022/2023. The amount of the tuition fee remains at 697,00 euros, which can be paid in ten monthly installments.

The normal deadline for submitting an application to the first phase runs from 25 July to 8 August.

UAlg offers initial and postgraduate training courses in its various areas of training: Arts, Communication and Heritage; Exact and Natural Sciences; Social Sciences and Education; Health Sciences and Technologies; Economy, Management and Tourism; Engineering and Technologies.
