Loulé: weapons, drugs and carob beans seized in an operation to combat crime

The operation also resulted in the arrest of an 18-year-old

The Loulé GNR seized this Tuesday, July 19, various materials and drugs and detained an 18-year-old in an operation to combat violent and serious crime. 

The objective of the operation was to «reduce the effects of crime and increase the feeling of security among the population, in several places in the municipality of Loulé», emphasizes the GNR in a press release. 

The action culminated in the fulfillment of four home search warrants and one vehicle search warrant, within the scope of the investigation of three investigations concerning crimes of robbery, theft and drug trafficking. 

On this day, the following materials were seized: 238 doses of hashish, 21 doses of cannabis, four precision scales, two knives with traces of drug use, several small airtight bags, a roll of cling film, a laptop, a machete, eight 6.35 mm rounds, a replica gun of fire, a pepper spray, various foreign documents, 55 euros in cash, three cell phones and 315 kilos of carob.

The 18-year-old man was arrested for drug trafficking and two men, aged 41 and 52, were also accused. 

According to the GNR, the facts will be sent to the Departments of Investigation and Criminal Action in Loulé and Faro and the Commission on Detoxification and Drug Addiction.

The operation counted on the reinforcement of the Public Order Intervention Group of the Intervention Unit, of the canine technique side of the Intervention Detachment of Faro and the Technical Support Center of the Territorial Command of Faro.
