Associação In Loco launches this year a cycle of five webinars dedicated to the debate on water and seeks contributions to identify organizations and practices that could be integrated into the programming.
As part of the 13th edition of the Pensar Global Agir Local University, In Loco organizes the webinar cycle “Water: Bipolar Strategies in the South”, which will take place in September.
The event will have 5 online sessions, on dates to be announced later, whose themes result from a consultation carried out with the community, which was
invited, during the month of June, to share which issues, themes and concerns related to water would like to see discussed.
The answers obtained placed agriculture, scarcity and desertification among the most prominent concerns, but also made it possible to collect contributions that reveal the need to focus on the use of water in some strategic and important sectors such as tourism, agriculture and livestock. .
Issues related to the distribution and domestic and urban consumption of water were also considered, as well as the need to act at this level, without losing sight of the relationship between water and ecosystems.
Now, in a phase of defining the program and invited to be involved in the debate on each of these themes, the organization once again launches a call for community participation.
The possibility was even created for people to get involved, collaborating in the organization of the event, by sending contributions from people, communities, organizations and projects or initiatives that, within these thematic areas, have relevant opinions or work and that can contribute to a broad and inclusive discussion of different perspectives, facts and experiences on the subject, whether at the political, scientific-academic, or citizen level (in the latter including elements of organized civil society such as companies and organizations, but also communities).
Thus, practices and visions are sought that are related to the theme of water and that are integrated into the following typologies:
Research, study or article of scientific-academic scope;
Public policy developed or under development;
Project and/or initiative promoted by civil society organizations (associations, NGOs, companies, etc.);
Initiative developed by citizen and/or community.
With “Water: Bipolar Strategies to the South”, In Loco intends to put into debate and reflection a theme and a problem that is common to the whole country, but which particularly plagues the interior territories, located to the south, known to be at greater risk. desertification, conditioned by more extreme temperatures, greater scarcity and severely affected by climate change.
In this way, it hopes to make its contribution so that the urgency of acting and creating integrated strategies for the distribution, management and use of water in different areas and sectors is maintained on the agenda, creating a space that challenges critical reflection on the different facts, policies and forms of action that emerge and that are sometimes found in antagonistic spaces.
Evidencing different perspectives and approaches to the theme and clarifying the roles that each sector of society should have in the application of solutions, are other purposes of the event.
