The program continues on the 22nd of July, in Monchique, with a conference by Filipe Castro, on the theme “Building and setting up Algarve caravels in the first Modernity”, followed by a new creative workshop on territorial design, on the 26th.

Magallanes_ICC is a cross-border cooperation project (Interreg), which brings together several partners from Alentejo, Algarve and Andalusia to work on the theme of Cultural and Creative Industries, inspired by the 500th anniversary of the circumnavigation voyage initiated by Fernão de Magalhães , evoking its pioneering, creative and innovative character.

As a partner, the Regional Directorate of Culture is working in the territory of the Places of Globalization (municipalities of Monchique, Vila do Bispo, Aljezur, Lagos and Silves) to stimulate the creation of products and/or services within the scope of the CCIs, linked to the theme of “Algarve participation in the maritime expansion enterprise of the XNUMXth and XNUMXth centuries”.

The objective is to promote a transfer of historical knowledge, validated by the scientific community, to the cultural and creative sector, presenting it, as well as the associated heritage, as creative resources and of economic potential of interest for the creation of innovative, sustainable and identity.

The Magallanes_ICC project is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), through the Interreg VA España-Portugal Program (POCTEP) 2014-2020.
